20 September 2011 - Scottish Ministers have laid The West Lothian (Electoral Arrangements) Councillor Numbers Order 2011 (SSI 2011/332) before the Scottish Parliament. The Order implements the recommendations of our Interim Review of electoral arrangements in West Lothian council area and can be viewed on the National Archives Legislation website.
19 August 2011 - The Commission carried out a consultation on Councillor numbers in January of this year, the results of that consultation can be seen here.
24 June 2011 - We have updated our Information Paper and Quick Guide on Electoral Reviews. Both are available from the Publications section of this website.
23 June 2011 - Interim reviews of electoral arrangements. We have submitted our report to Scottish Ministers making recommendations for an increase in the number of councillors representing West Lothian ward 8 (Bathgate) from 3 to 4. In the other 7 interim reviews conducted at the same time (Aberdeen City, City of Edinburgh, Dundee City, Fife, Glasgow City, Perth and Kinross, South Lanarkshire) , we have recommended no changes to the current arrangements. 16 June 2011 - We have adopted the Scottish Information Commissioner's Model Freedom of Information Publication Scheme, and published our resulting Guide to Information. You can access these from the Publications section of the website. This replaces the Freedom of Information Publication Scheme which we had in place from 2004.
10 January 2011 - We are undertaking a consultation on how we should determine the appropriate number of councillors in future reviews of electoral arrangements. The consultation document and a webform for responses are available on this website. The consultation period lasts until 31 March 2011.
